Can CBD Tincture Upset Your Stomach?

CBD tinctures and oils are some of the most popular methods of CBD consumption. However, on rare occasions, CBD users will report feeling an upset stomach after starting a new CBD regimen. Here are some of the reasons why your stomach may feel upset after using CBD tinctures and what you can do to prevent any discomfort.

Why Can CBD Tinctures Cause Stomach Issues

Seeing as CBD tinctures are ingested, usually with food, it’s not hard to see why stomach pains aren’t out of the realm of possibility. However, more often than not, stomach pain is more caused by the carrier oil rather than the CBD itself. Certain oils may hit your stomach differently than others.

That’s why it’s important to do your research into the brand of CBD tinctures you’re thinking about purchasing. There may also be a period of trial and error. Just because your stomach doesn’t react well to one type of tincture doesn’t mean it won’t like another type from a different company or maybe even a different product from the same company.

What You Can Do To Avoid Stomach Issues

If you’re still experiencing stomach issues despite changing products there are other steps you can take to try and limit the stomach issues. It’s important to keep in mind that everyone’s body is different. What might work for someone else might not work for you. Here are some ways you can help limit stomach pain:

1. Try a Different Form of CBD

CBD comes with a wide variety of different forms of consumption. These forms range from edibles, capsules, and drinks to creams, oils, vapes. The one that’s best for you is going to largely depend on what you’re looking to get from the product.

If you’re using CBD tinctures, you’re more than likely looking for the full body and mental benefits CBD provides. You can get the same benefits with other products such as capsules and vapes. If you think your stomach issues are caused by the tincture itself, it’s time to try out a different method of consumption.

2. Buy Stronger Potency

You may be experiencing stomach issues because your dosage isn’t high enough. There’s a common misconception that upping your dosage may result in further stomach pain. Unless an absurd amount is consumed, higher doses typically don’t result in stomach pain.

The reasoning behind upping the potency is that it will require you to use less of the tincture. The lower the potency the more you will need to use to feel the desired effects. This can be a leading cause of stomach pains.

3. Eat a Meal or Snack First

Much like other forms of medications, your body may have difficulties processing CBD on an empty stomach. Try eating a snack or a meal before taking your dose of CBD. It may hit your stomach better if it has something to land on.

This may be difficult because many people choose tinctures because they mix well with food. If this is the case with you, perhaps it’s best to try a different method of CBD use. You can also add the tincture later in the meal after you have already eaten so your stomach isn’t empty.

While CBD has many proven benefits with limited negative side effects, stomach pain is one of the said side effects. However, there are steps you can take to limit the discomfort you feel or avoid it entirely. Stomach pain doesn’t have to ruin your CBD use.
