Explore CBD Capsules

If you’re wanting the beneficial effects of CBD but don’t want to deal with taking a tincture or vaping it, then CBD capsules might be a good option for you. They provide all the same beneficial effects as other forms of CBD. There are a few things to consider when choosing the right product for you and your needs.

Full-Spectrum CBD Capsules

If you’ve recently started looking into using CBD to help you out then you’ve probably seen a variety of terms. Before we can describe what full spectrum means, we first need to take a look at all the different terms you might see. These include isolate, pure-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and others.

These terms refer to how much processing the hemp plant goes through to get the desired product. Isolate and broad-spectrum are the most processed and contain only certain cannabinoids. Full-spectrum (also referred to as pure-spectrum), on the other hand, contains all of the cannabinoids that the plant has to offer. Research shows that full-spectrum CBD provides more relief than any other types of CBD.

Different Types of Cannabinoids

Hemp and cannabis sativa have 6 different types of cannabinoids. When the plant goes through processing, the cannabinoids that can be filtered out include:

  • Cannabidiol: This is the substance known as CBD and is the key ingredient in CBD products
  • Cannabigerol: This is the precursor to cannabidiol and is said to have benefits of its own. High-quality full-spectrum products contain 3% or less of this
  • Cannabichromene: Typically only found in small amounts in full-spectrum products
  • Tetrahydrocannabivarin: Known as THC, this is the substance found in marijuana that is responsible for those high feelings. In high-quality CBD products, this is found in quantities of less than 0.3%

These cannabinoids along with terpenes are found in varying levels in the product you choose.

Why You Might Choose an Isolate Instead

Research suggests that cannabinoids work together (called a synergistic effect) to have the most beneficial effect which is why full-spectrum products are the most popular. Terpenes also play an important role in this synergistic effect and some might say their role is more important than cannabinoids. However, there are times when one might want pure CBD.

An example of this would be if you’re employed at a place where there are strict drug testing guidelines in place. Since CBD products aren’t federally regulated, the exact amount of THC can vary. If you’re worried THC might show up on a drug test then you would want to take an isolate that has pure CBD in it, which can still have a beneficial effect on your symptoms.

What Are Terpenes?

Terpenes are the aromatic molecules that are found in hemp plants. They are most commonly used in aromatherapy treatments. For example, the terpene linalool is also found in lavender and is commonly associated with restful, calming sleep.

Some other common terpenes found in hemp include limonene, myrcene, pinene, humulene, and caryophyllene. They have been shown to have beneficial effects of their own, which is why it’s more popular for CBD to be consumed in a full-spectrum product.

What are Broad-Spectrum CBD Capsules?

Broad-spectrum CBD products fall somewhere between full-spectrum and isolate. It contains all of the beneficial cannabinoids as full-spectrum. However, the cannabinoid THC has been completely filtered out. You might not get the full synergistic effect as when using a full-spectrum product. However, this product might be a good alternative if you work for a company with strict drug testing requirements.

When you’re trying to figure out the best CBD capsules for you, there are a few things to keep in mind. Some of our tips for finding a high-quality CBD capsules include:

  • Figure out where the hemp is sourced from plants grown overseas aren’t as tested or required to keep up with rigorous agricultural standards
  • Look for the products COA or Certificate of Analysis. This will tell you how the product measured up during testing for THC and CBD levels as well as if there were any contaminants
  • Look for products that have exact amounts of cannabidiol levels in each dose

It’s important to do your research before choosing a product since CBD is considered a supplement and not federally regulated. You’ll want to make sure you look for high-quality CBD capsules and not just base your decision on price.

CBD Capsule Benefits

The CBD product you choose depends on your needs. Most people choose to take it sublingually (under the tongue) or to vape it. The reason behind this is that those methods ensure that more CBD goes straight to your bloodstream. However, there are many benefits and reasons why you might choose a capsule such as:

  • Provides for easy travel since a tincture might leak in your bag
  • You can take it right along with your other supplements
  • A great way to take your CBD if you can’t stand the taste of a tincture
  • Each dose is already measured out
  • A more conspicuous way to take CBD
  • A better way to take CBD if you’re concerned with the safety of vaping it

You can also create your own capsules by adding CBD oil to veggie caps.

CBD Capsules Versus Softgels

CBD softgels provide all of the same benefits as choosing to take it in capsule form. Generally speaking, they both have the same amount of CBD inside of them, whereas a pill has a more potent crystalized powder form. CBD capsules and softgels also make it so that the beneficial effects of the cannabidiol reach your system faster.

The outer layer provides a protective layer so that less of the CBD is broken down by stomach acid. Capsules and softgels also taste better than a pill. Softgels are also harder to find in a vegan form since most softgels are made from a gelatin outer shell. Another drawback of a softgel is that they are typically more expensive since they cost more than capsules to manufacture.
