What CBD Products Are Safe?

If you’re one of the millions of Americans considering switching to CBD for its numerous benefits, it’s important that you know what to look for. Since the FDA currently does not approve commercial CBD products, it’s up to you to do your own research. Here are some things to consider when researching CBD products.

What Kind of CBD Are You Looking For?

First and foremost, you need to know what type of product you’re looking for. There’s a wide range of CBD products to choose from. The type that’s best for you is going to largely depend on what you’re using CBD for.

  • Sprays - set in quickly and are often used for pain relief
  • Cream - direct application, also used for pain and inflammation relief
  • Edibles - can be found in the form of gummy bears, cookies and brownies
  • Oil - often used to mix with food

Knowing the type of CBD you need is going to dramatically reduce your research time. Some companies sell all types of CBD products while others specialize in certain types.

Know Your Dosage

It’s also important to know the dosage you’re looking for. If you have already been taking CBD products, you’re more than likely familiar with the dosage you’re comfortable with. If you’re new to CBD, it’s highly recommended that you start low and work your way up from there.

This also ties into the type of CBD that you’re working with. Products like spray typically require a higher dosage to get the desired effects. Other products like ingestible oils and edibles may require a smaller dosage.

Buy From the Right Brands

The fact that no commercial products are approved by the FDA can be alarming to people. Luckily, the CBD community is amazing and many companies do everything they can to be as transparent as possible.

When you begin researching a CBD company, look into how much they know. Try to find a brand that’s not making empty promises or guarantees. Look for a company that controls its farm-to-shelf process. This means they’re in direct contact, communication with the growers and manufacturers, which allows them to be more in tune with the intricacies of their production.

Buy Domestically Sourced Products

One of the easiest ways to know you’re getting something safe is by buying domestically sourced products. Look for CBD products that are made with American-grown hemp. These products are typically safer than products that are grown overseas.

California has some of the best and safest products currently on the market. That’s because of collectives such as Flow Kana which are dedicated to the safe production of hemp and hemp-related products. New York, Colorado, Kentucky, Oregon, Vermont and Tennessee also produce high-quality products.

Things To Avoid

As you’re researching companies, there are a couple of things that you should avoid if at all possible. Avoid any company that claims their product is a ‘miracle drug’ or makes claims without any evidence. Also, avoid any company that provides no research into their product as often this could mean they’re hiding something.

Avoid hemp seed oil products. These products are littered throughout Amazon since the online shopping superpower has yet to allow the sale of CBD products on their site. While hemp seed oil full of healthy vitamins and nutrients, it contains little to no CBD.

Do Your Research

If you’re considering using CBD products, you owe it to yourself to do ample amounts of research. This will leave you comfortable with the product you’ve purchased. There’s plenty of great products on the market waiting for you.
